One of the most asked questions we get as web developers is “how long will it take to build a website?” the short answer is “typically 4 to 6 weeks…however…” there are several determining factors such as:
- How quickly you can get us your content like text, images, logos etc.
- How quickly you respond to followup questions
- How many revisions you would like
- The clients ability to make decisions
- This does not absolve the web developer of all responsibility. There are times where the web developer:
- Might miss deadlines.
- Has other client emergencies come up
- Some design or development item turns out to be much more complicated than initially expected.
So…4 to 6 Weeks?
Yes. Assuming communication is smooth, expectations are clearly laid out, timelines are enforced, and expectations clearly stated, then most websites should take that long. This also assumes the website is relatively straightforward. This typically means a website with 4-8 pages, no complicated interactive elements or API development. If you are just looking to “get something up online to get clients/leads/reservations/etc” then 4 to 6 weeks to build and launch a website should be more than enough time to build a website.
